In the summer of 2012 my family will return to Walt Disney World. This blog will detail my planning, discuss strategies and basically look at every issue that determines a successful Disney trip. Enjoy.

My son and I have begun making our own movies. This first one is a stop motion 26 second short using his Lego figures. He provides the sound effects. Hope you enjoy...

What if Disney Characters had Said AFI's Most Famous Quotes? Cont...
Today I continue the countdown...So what if the top 100 movie quotes of all time were said by Disney characters? My goal is to take the 100 "Greatest Movie Quotes of All Time" as determined by AFI and determine what Disney movie or Disney character would have said the line. I will start the countdown at 100 and then countdown five at a time. Let me know what you think. Did I make any obvious mistakes or overlook an obvious choice? Leave your comments below. I hope you enjoy. If you missed the earlier lines click HERE, HERE, HERE, Here, Here and here.

A Little Change...91
I feel like branching out. I know that I have picked a blog with a narrow niche. I still love talking about Disney but to quote the Little Mermaid, "I want more." So I hope you don't mind but I am going to be changing the format a little. I still plan on discussing Disney and planning WDW vacations but I'm also going to be doing some non-Disney related posts. Hope you are all ok with that.
I have started another blog site called Over Kool-Aid. The Over Kool-Aid posts will be featured on both sites and any Disney related post will stay just on The Disney Plan. I'm not real good with change or transitions but I think this will ease me into the next phase of my blogging. I really enjoy it...don't know if I'm very good at it but I enjoy it. So I'm going to keep going. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the new posts.

A Disney Scholar...172
I will be teaching it at our Career Center. I don't know if all the planning and preparation will be worth the $40 I will be paid but I am excited about the opportunity. I may need to change my name from the DisneyMacAddict to Professor Disney...ok maybe not. I am still in the planning process, but I will keep you up to date on my progress. And if you ask real nice I may make my Keynote (it's like PowerPoint only better) available for your viewing. Pretty cool how God opens doors. Wonder will this one leads.
If you have any great ideas or suggestions please leave me a comment.
Thanks for reading.

Start Something That Matters...181
So I know I have taken some time off from my blog. I understand this is a big no no if you are wanting to build a loyal following, but I felt stuck. For several weeks I have been reading some very good books. It started with Donald Miller's Blue Like Jazz. Then I went to another Miller book, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years. Both of those books moved me and I wouldn't say shook my faith but they had me questioning the way I was living out my faith. Seemed to me like I was just paying lip service to a big part of Jesus' ministry. Me and Jesus were fine but somehow I had forgotten the part about loving and serving others.
The next book I picked up was Start Something That Matters by Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMS shoes. He tells an amazing story. From such a tiny upstart company, with an unproven business model and concept, he began something remarkable. The book would be worth it just to hear his story of TOMS, but the book also details so many good stories of entrepreneurs, starting companies, and giving back to society. I think the book does a good job of achieving the author's goal of inspiring the reader to get involved and begin taking steps to create a better world.
I don't know where all this will lead me but I think my attitude toward certain social and environmental issues has changed. My wife and I have begun volunteering at an outreach program that helps underprivileged kids with homework and reading. This next weekend we will help our church pack meals for Feed My Starving Children. Please believe me when I say that I am not trying to pat myself on the back and make myself look like a saint. I just feel like it's time to begin taking my focus off of me and begin looking at a world that needs shoes, love, food, fathers, generosity, mothers and Christ. I know this is pretty deep for a Disney World blog but it's my new voice.
At one point in Blake's book he asks the question, "If you didn't have to worry about money, what would you do with your time? What kind of work would you do? What causes would you serve?" So the first two were easy for me to answer...I would go to Walt Disney World and I would work for WDW. The third one was more difficult. So my new goal is to try to figure out how to combine my love of the World with my new found compassion for the world. When I discover that...watch out!!
Thanks for reading.
