341...Collectibles

Let's say you get done planning your WDW vacation and you find that you still have a few dollars left in the bank.  (Probably not going to happen but let's pretend) Would you like a few ideas where you could spend that left over money?  If you like collecting things, has Mickey got a deal for you!

Pin collecting and trading.  I don't do it but I love the idea.  Basically you get a starter set of four or five pins and a lanyard.  As you go through the parks you look for other vacationers or cast members to trade with.  Pretty easy and a great way to interact with other people in the parks.  Here is the official source of information about pin trading.

Pirates Starter Set from the Disney Store

So maybe your not into pin trading.  How about a 3"(some are 9") vinyl, Mickey Mouse figure that is painted in too many variations to name?  Vinylmation is so odd it is cool.  They start around $9.95 and they  continually put out new ones.  Here is the official word from Disney about Vinylmation.

From the Walt Disney World Collection
Pretty cool huh?

No?  Well maybe you long for the affection of stuffed teddy bear.  Duffy Bear has a great back story and is just too darn cute.  Duffy comes in two sizes and starts at $30.  The smaller Duffy Bear comes in a wide variety of outfits.  They range from holiday to other special occasions.  The larger Duffy comes plain and you can buy outfits from around the world.  I'm a big fan of the German outfit, but I believe most of  the countries in World Showcase are represented.  For more information about Duffy go here.

Disney does a masterful job of separating you from your money.  Don't fight it!  Pick the collectible that most meets your obsessive compulsive disorder and have fun.  Enjoy the collectable side of Walt Disney World.  This is by no means a comprehensive list but they are my favorites.  If you have anything that you like to collect from the parks, please list them in the comments section below.  Thanks for reading.

Jules here -

What about collecting the pressed pennies? Inexpensive yet fun to collect? (50 cents + 1 penny per item) AND they sell pressed penny books at Disney to keep them all in...your thoughts?
