354...The Five Best Attractions at Magic Kingdom

As you begin your WDW planning I would highly recommend discussing what attractions are most important to the members of your family or group.  It is unrealistic to think that you are going to see and do everything that the World has to offer in one trip.  With that in mind, this post will look at the five attractions at the Magic Kingdom that I think are not to be missed.

5.  Peter Pan's Flight - This ride is a classic.  My favorite moment is flying over London and seeing the cars and town below.  It is a very short ride with a usually long wait but to me there is just something magical about flying through the movie.

4.  Big Thunder Mountain - It is not the biggest and fastest ride in the World but the theming and attention to detail makes this a top 5 attraction.  Be sure to ride it during the day and also again at night.  It feels like two different rides.

3.  Haunted Mansion - If you can get your kids through the Stretch room you should be fine.  Again, the ride is a classic.  Great music, great visuals and now an interactive queue add up to one of the great rides in all of Walt Disney World.

2.  Splash Mountain - Based on the classic film, "Song of the South" Splash Mountain takes you through the story of Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox and Brer Bear.  This is a long ride, it is beautifully themed and has a killer drop at the end.  Want to get wet, try the front left.  Want to stay dry, ride in the back and duck!

1.  Wishes - As they put it, "The biggest, most dazzling fireworks spectacular ever to grace the Magic Kingdom skies."  My favorite memory of Wishes is looking over at my wife who was holding my one year old daughter.  My daughter was staring at the fireworks in the sky and my wife was staring at my daughter and I noticed a tear rolling down my wife's face.  Now that is magical.

So those are my top 5 attractions in the Magic Kingdom.  Trust me, I know that I left off some great attractions but that is my list.  Let me know what you think and give me your own list.  Thanks for reading and see you soon.

Splash Mountain is probably the staple ride for WDW. If you want to ride this while you're hot, as a way to cool off, get a Fast Pass. That or risk 40+ minute wait. You don't just cool off by the big drop. The ride itself, which is about a 10-minute ride, is fairly cool all the way through. It's a great ride to do at night also. We rode it shortly before midnight one night, and my son and I were the only ones in the car.

Good list. I'd recommend a Fast Pass for Peter Pan, too. Get one then go to Mickey's Philharmagic.
